Employment & Personal Injury Junior Associate Attorney – Clarksburg/Buckhannon/Parkersburg

We are seeking to add an entry level attorney to our Employment and Personal Injury practice group.  You’ll provide claimants with the legal advice, guidance and representation required to successfully win compensation. Our excellent team of support staff will help you along the way. We have a team-oriented approach to working up cases. Responsibilities

The position will be responsible for important tasks, including:

  • Prepare and execute litigation strategies for assigned cases
  • Work with legal assistants and paralegals to prepare matters for hearing and trial
  • Represent clients throughout West Virginia in matters in circuit court
  • Represent clients at mediation and negotiate on their behalf
  • Help solve legal problems for clients by analyzing the situation, understanding their needs and creating a strategic plan of action
  • Legal research and writing
  • Client communications
  • Negotiate settlements for employment and personal injury cases
  • Writing and reviewing discovery
  • Providing direction to support legal staff regarding trial preparation
  • Court appearances
  • Legal research and writing

  • Preparing cases for contested hearings and trials

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in West Virginia
  • Great negotiator and communicator, specifically in situations when emotions and stress run high
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and procedures
  • Able to function with a high level of patience, tact and diplomacy in handling negative or challenging situations
  • Familiar with liens and healthcare reimbursements
  • Comfortable with technology
  • Enjoy friendly office competition and being recognized and rewarded for your achievements
  • Good with computer systems, e-mail, word processing, and the internet
  • Strong desire to help clients through tough times and want to help them get into a better position

Compensation

$60,000 - $80,000

Family Law Legal Assistant – Clarksburg/Buckhannon/Parkersburg

Do you have compassion and the ability to build relationships with clients?  Do you have a passion for helping others through difficult times?  We're looking to add a talented individual with a positive attitude to our firm as a Family Law Legal Assistant. The Legal Assistant shall assist and support the legal production team in the management of all matters including scheduling, filing, calendar management and communications.  The candidate will also perform administrative office tasks such as answering phones, scanning and making photocopies. A good candidate should be extremely organized, have excellent people skills, and be comfortable handling confidential client information.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting lawyers in collecting legal and factual documents
  • Communicating with clients and vendors
  • Creating and maintaining files
  • Transmitting legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials by electronic filing, mail, fax, or messenger
  • Filing, organizing, scanning, copying, and faxing legal documents in a timely manner
  • Managing attorneys’ calendars
  • Documenting and maintaining case details
  • Conducting research and organizing information relevant to cases

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to learn practice management software and track time
  • Attention to detail and accuracy to produce error-free, quality documentation
  • Sound computer skills including typing speed, proficiency in a variety of computer applications
  • The ability to express oneself clearly and concisely
  • Strong writing skills including good grammar, spelling, and language skills
  • The ability to work both independently and with a team

Compensation

$13 - $16 hourly

Contingency Paralegal – Clarksburg/Buckhannon/Parkersburg

We are seeking a talented litigation paralegal with high standards, positive energy, and a desire to deliver exceptional service to our clients to join our firm. At Klie Law, we operate as a team, so this individual must be willing to welcome a variety of tasks and assignments and to be adaptable to change as we continue to grow our firm. Paralegals will be responsible for the coordination of all the details before, during, and after the trial. The successful candidate will be able to provide assistance during all phases of the litigation process including conducting interviews, legal research, document filing, and attending trials.

This is a hybrid position and requires the candidate to commute to the office for meeting days in addition to two weeks of in-person training in our Buckhannon, WV location. You must live within two driving hours of one of our locations: Clarksburg, Buckhannon or Parkersburg, WV.

Responsibilities

  • Organization and management of pre-litigation and litigation cases (such as personal injury and employment law)
  • Handling of incoming and outgoing mailings
  • Maintenance of electronic case files, including documenting and maintaining case details
  • Communicating with clients to gather information and obtain evidence
  • Assisting attorneys with drafting, proofreading, filing, and service of correspondence, pleadings, and discovery
  • Obtaining and analyzing evidence (such as medical records, medical bills, employment files, etc.) including the creation of spreadsheets and chronologies
  • Assisting with trial preparation including assembly of trial binders and witness testimony coordination
  • Conducting research and organizing information relevant to cases

Qualifications

  • Must live within 2 hours driving distance of one of our office locations: Clarksburg, Buckhannon or Parkersburg, WV
  • Attention to detail and accuracy to produce error-free, quality documentation
  • 2 years’ experience working as a contingency paralegal preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Working knowledge of practice management software and tracking billable time per case
  • Problem-solving
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures
  • Time management, ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Compensation

$40,000 - $57,000
